Reading scientific papers

There's a science column on how to read a paper, which is worth the read for anyone who has ever had to read a scientific publication:

Personally, I have noticed that it does get easier the more papers you read within a given field. After a while you start to be able to predict what kind of method they used or what their results look like just from the title and abstract, and only be wrong about half of the time.
