Affiliation information

Post by danfdeblasio » Tue Mar 24, 2015 11:50 pm

When you update your profile and add and affiliation [1] you must select an RSG to join. If you're not part of an RSG there is no option. THis should be optional or have a "no RSG affiliation" or something similar category.

Is there a way to have like clean URLs in PHPbb? I haven't used it in years so like instead of "posting.php?mode=post"? Not sure if thats an option.

HI Dan,

Affiliation and RSG questions are now optional.

the concept was to automate RSG assignment for board access purpose. Currently it's a bit complicated with latest phpBB release (3.1) many of old mods become unusable. While I wait for things to get steady on phpBB deve forums, I thought it would be a good idea to start gathering RSG details.

As for the clean URLs, good old phpBB 2.0 had easy mods for SEF URL, I haven't seen for 3.0 and 3.1.
Most discussions on "pretty URLs for phpBB" in phpBB dev forums, seem to get a negative vibe.

I can see your idea of avoiding "posting.php?mode=post" by doing something like "posting/post/" could be an option.
However, without changing core URL classes, adding any outer level workaround would unnecessarily increase server load, as the board will have to re-translate URLs into native format.

I will keep looking if a good plugin like USU gets approved by phpBB devs.
Cheers,
